Search Engine Rap Battle

Today, Tom Edwards sent me a link to a YouTube video of an "underground search engine rap battle" between Google and Yahoo!.  As a guy who works in technology this was one of the funniest things I'd seen in a while.  There are a series of 3 or so episodes (at the time of posting) and they are definitely worth checking out.

Intel Capital invests $20 million in Telligent

Intel Capital

Today it was officially announced that Intel Capital, Intel’s global investment organization, is investing $20 million in Telligent.  I'm excited about this news and glad that we can finally share it with everyone else.  Telligent is a great place to work and this is going to make us even bigger and better (scary huh).  I'm looking forward to what the future holds!

Detroit Grand Prix 2008

This past weekend I travelled to Detroit for business.  While I was there I had the opportunity to attend the Detroit Grand Prix.  I had access to pretty much every part of the event except pit road.  I was able to watch from a trackside chalet (literally 10 feet from the track), watch from the grandstands, walked through the paddock area where the cars are taken to be worked on, etc.  Here are some pics from the weekend.

LeRoi Moore - 1961-2008

LeRoi Moore, saxophone player and a founding member of the Dave Matthews Band past away today.  Ronni and I saw DMB 3 days ago and this was the first time I learned about his ATV accident.  The reports we read sounded like he was going to be ok, so this is kind of a shock.  My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

HowTo: Create a ringtone for your iPhone 3G

I use a program called Audacity to create the ringtone.

You can download Audacity here: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

  1. Open the .MP3 in Audacity.
  2. Select the part of the song you want to be your ringtone.
    1. Try to keep the selection 30 seconds or under.
  3. Save it as a "NEW" file.
    1. File -> Export Selection as .mp3
  4. Open iTunes and import the new file.
  5. Find the song you just imported.
  6. Right click on new file and choose "Convert to AAC"
  7. In iTunes, find the newly created .AAC file.  Right click on file and choose "Show in windows explorer"
  8. Rename the file from .m4a to .m4r
  9. Import the .m4r song into iTunes
  10. The song will now show up under Ringtones.
  11. Drag and drop the ringtone to your iPhone.

So I finally caved...

Last night I decided to get an iPhone 3G.  So far I have to say that it is absolutely awesome.  The battery life seems to be less than desirable, but other than that I have no regrets.
